I went with a more traditional Dorthy, from the book at least. I would have come up with something a bit more out there, but that damn Thesis Project keeps rearing its ugly head.So as I said, more in tune with the book, silver shoes not ruby, wearing blue so that Munchkins will recognizes her as a "good" witch, and not a damsel in distress......though she ended up sassy, like all my other girls, I don't know why.....
I posted the original sketch because I like it more than the finish. I'm still not happy with clean-up, traditional or digital.......just need a lot more practice.If you guys ever can check out Enrique Frendanez's (I think that's how you spell his name) "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz". Of all the adaptations his is the most acruate to the books.
Oh and plus there is a Chuck Jones cartoon of the Wizard of Oz. If anyone ever finds a copy let me know!.......yeah, I'm a nerd what of it?

i like your idea of using judy garland's looks, but the books age for dorothy. she definitely has sass- totally reads in her pose as well as her expression. nice work.
it actually makes me want to go and read the books...great attitude/posture--i think i've seen jeremy use that same posture when he wants something...he was even wearing that same dress.....hmmmmm....
I soooo expected you to paint Dorothy being carried off by flying monkeys. Thesis? BAH!

Nice work. Nothin' wrong with going the more traditional take on Dorthy. I expected some flying monkeys too. Ahhh, denied the monkeys.
I swear I'm going to get to the flying monkeys.....or maybe I'll post the old monkey joke that no one ever got in high school....lousy heathens.

I know what you mean about cleaning up drawings. I lose a lot when I try to tie something down...which is why I try not to as much as possible. Good attitude on your Dorothy.
